Becca Stefanson's debut EP Going Forward, Looking Back highlights the early songwriting journey of the 17-year-old Pitt Meadows artist across six songs that reflect on past experiences, personal growth, longing and the quiet emotions people often leave unspoken. Written over the course of a year, the EP brings together tracks like No Strings Attached, Memories, Mr. Mailman, How I Feel, Love Song and Treasure across a full body of work, as each song is connected by a common thread of inward-looking and insights instead of being treated as separate releases. The project debuts alongside How I Feel, a folk-country ballad that became her first venture into fingerpicking and displays the kind of storytelling she has an appeal to, especially since it focuses on desiring something with someone that no longer feels within reach. Recorded, produced and mixed by her father Todd Stefanson, Going Forward, Looking Back has a personal foundation at its core that links Becca's development as a songwriter to the people who have supported her music from the very start. Having engaged in music since the age of nine and developed her voice through school performances, community events and open-mic appearances, Becca's EP introduced a sound influenced by folk-country, indie folk, warm vocals and influences that range from The Beatles, Stevie Nicks and Jeff Buckley to Clairo, Lizzy McAlpine and Gracie Abrams.
