From the few glimpses we currently have into "Modes of Transportation"— the next-in-line album from the industrious songstress Billianne, various shades of romance seem to have evoked the inspiration behind this project. Amidst this, the sharpest contrast is marked by the already teased "Baby Blue": its jubilant yet sassy tonality will surely suffice as a refreshing additive in the yet-to-be-revealed LP.

In a timeframe of a few years, Billianne has scored tracks that have reached near viral levels of streaming numbers; not surprisingly, as the American moniker has penned stirring renditions the likes of "Simply The Best" and "Que Sera Sera." The irresistible aspects of these songs lie not only in the unfettered, expressive musings but also in the refined voice guiding the modest compositions. Dabbling into other styles (a fine example being the grabby indie-pop duet "heaven" with will hyde), Billianne's honed artistry won't face impedance while switching into different musical lanes; look no further than one of the recent single "Crush" (released last year under the eponymous EP), a soulful number generously sugar-coated by its polished pop attributes— such as the strutting cadence over a synthesized bassline during the singalong chorus (a stark distinction from the EP accompaniment and 70s soft rock analogous "Daydream").

"Baby Blue" is close to a wildcard in Billianne's expansive resume so far: this could effortlessly serve as the leading single for the forthcoming album. The switch-up in mood and emotional temperament is handled expertly by the artist, trading the often ruminative disposition common through her music for unapologetic, upbeat tones: the playful jabs from the lyricism throws shade at a unfaithful ex and a relationship went sour ("Was gonna be your west end girl//Be the cherry on top of your world//Almost went to the ends of the earth for you//Who the hell was that girl Baby Blue"). Balancing deftly between heartbreak melancholia and zippy, lighthearted vocal inflections, Billianne is a sheer force driving the peppy pop-rock arrangements with abundant flourish.
