Chymes proves to be a musical outlier with her latest EP "Alien."

Resolute in pushing sonic boundaries, the Australian alias Chymes has taken bold steps in her career by furnishing the latest project "Alien," a five-track EP filled with honeyed hooks and off-kilter, polished dance music productions that brandish hammering basslines, groovy dose of drums and tempting vocals: all merging to form bold and colorful tracks that express artistic creativity at the highest order.

In her promising career so far, Chymes has shown an impressive aptitude for songwriting and vocalist: the indie act has a long list of accomplishments from acquiring millions of streams to lending her talents to K-pop entertainment juggernauts such as HYBE and JYP (meanwhile drawing admiration from the illustrious BTS icon Jungkook). Furthermore, much-followed TV series the likes of 'Pretty Little Liars' and 'Good Trouble' have also propagated her music to their viewers, establishing the vast reach Chymes' artistic ventures have found in recent years.

In a discography that is strongly leaning towards alternative and electro-pop, the upcoming starlet took it a step further with "Alien," sidestepping any deadlines or prerequisites for the EP. This inspiration stems from Chymes' personal life, as she mentions, of not feeling comfortable with various societal status quo, which very much extends to her idiosyncratic sound signature.

"UFO" sets a precedent for this EP with bold measures: sultry vocals follow clicky percussions on a slick trap sequence. Another notable feature is the Middle Eastern chord progression, an attribute that iterates throughout the upcoming tracks. These productions are packed to the brim with sonic goodies, and variations at every corner to keep the listeners guessing what's next. Taking inspiration from K-pop with its dynamic aesthetics, every bit is furnished to be grabby. For instance, in "Sweet" there's the plucky and abrupt synth melody; at other times, the vocals freely contort and glitch like in "Sour" with the main hook. What we found more outstanding is Chymes's seductive and effervescent aura, delivering delectable hooks at ease.

Listen to "Alien" on Spotify, and stay tuned with Chymes and her upcoming projects on Instagram.
