Unveiling the first release for his solo act, Naylor Stone keeps it cool and steady: in a noteworthy endeavor that includes six tracks, "The Game of They" is a vibrant canvas upon which the experienced singer-songwriter has freely painted, creating songs unmarred by commercial tendencies and rather motivated by authentic pursuit for artisanship.

Driven by an eclectic taste in music, Naylor Stone has cultivated his sonic palette by diving into everything from Jazz to Country. His mindset has sourced strong inspiration from the rebellious nature of old-school punk rock culture, all the while staying grounded to the reality of everyday life, condensing those values into his songwriting. Previously, the New Orleans-based alias has successfully played the role of a vocalist and frontman with his alt-rock band Flyway.

Listeners are ushered into the EP by "If It Wasn't For The Trees": the laidback demeanor of the vocal hook makes it extra breezy, and the instrumental holds a smooth rhythm with the classic rock ensemble. Tempo fastens in the sophomore titular track, opening with a snappy drum beat and inclining towards Country & Western. The singer effortlessly keeps a lively groove with the striding, upbeat composition— resulting in a buoyant, energetic number.

Being a denizen of the Big Easy, it's no surprise when the troubadour slips into a husky, romantic timbre for the sultry Jazz track "Love Me, Little Lazy." Here, he is a tired soul, one searching for unconditional love and running away from a troublesome past (as the chorus reiterates "Should I say what I have done?/Do you even want to know?/Want to know where I have been? Or just love me, Lady?"). Wiser and grateful, "In The Meantime" is an optimistic alt-rock number that wants the listener to shake off unwarranted worries, and live fully in the present moment. The closing act and an outlier, "With All My Friends" comes bundled with sweeping psychedelic textures, and a surplus of mellow and reflective vocals.
