Diving into the ever so intricate subject of love and its different shades, the indie-pair SNACK has put in a commendable artisanship in coming up with attractive pop-centered tracks for their debut album "LOVE & OTHER DRUGS"; this is not only meant to ensnare the attention of everyday listeners with the vibrant hooks, but also resonate with them on a universal matter, and so it does deftly!
The Danish duo may have started not so long ago, yet they have shown impressive proficiency in the songwriting and vocal department, proving their merit for getting radio plays. One can see the experience they bring to the table right on from the debut "Christmas Time," with epic strings accentuating the main chorus in this holiday rock ballad; the vocals underscore the yearning and heartbreak with an earnest rendition.
The unveiling of the album began in 2023 with a steady slew of singles, leading up to the extended project the Nordic alias had in making. Firstly, "From Here to Somewhere" initiates with a road trip-ready vibe, a marching groove that bursts into a dynamic chorus— the anthemic and melodic ensemble holds aloft the contemplative vocals wondering which direction the newly unfolded relationship will take. Next up, the vocalists are persistent about not letting up hope during a rocky romance in "Give You Up," furnished with thrumming guitar melodies and strutting drums.
One of their latest release and included in the album, "Mesmerized" is a bittersweet and heady romantic tune in its sonic inclinations, working with a vibrant medley that ranges from a plucky synth lead to dramatic strings. "Out of Love" is a punchy synth-pop tune both lyrically and instrumentally, the lyrics don't hold back in expressing the disappointment post break-up, complete with gleaming 80s pop-inspired aesthetics. Later, the album sources optimism with the uplifting and aptly-titled "Hope": the resonating guitars and passionate vocals result in elevated and riveting chorus sections.
