In the duration of seven or so months, The Ram carved out the finer details for his tertiary album— ambitiously titled "I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere," the independent troubadour expands upon his artistic identity, channeling the spirit of Americana with a creative vigor, eager to push sonic boundaries. In the core of all this lies the strapping yet tender voice from the mentioned alias, effortlessly sketching surrealistic pastures and evoking deep emotions.

An accomplished singer-songwriter, the Ram (together with his band) is based in Southern California. Last we had the pleasure of writing about the American crooner, it was fresh off from the prominent release of "Space Cowboy": a track which ingeniously sew together back-to-roots blues rock with psychedelic influences— the result of which was a kaleidoscopic, laidback love-song about surfing (his favorite pastime) under the moonlight. The newest LP is devoted to his time spent around the diverse East Coast, combined with new records and some released previously.

It's hard not to imagine the rich, varied scenery painted vividly through the performances on "I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere." It trades commercial flamboyancy for earthy tones that are earnestly becoming rarer to find in the scene. The Ram's collective life experiences and sincerity for art truly shine through on this project, without majorly diverting away from its predecessors. Sure, musical evolution is a necessity for every artist, but so does sticking to the roots: the Ram has, over the years, meticulously perfected bluesy trademarks without straying away from experimentation, and a solid reason why this album is applaudable.

It starts with a touching and wistful elegy to his father with "Listen to the Cold": the idea having germinated on a trip to the family farm, is marked by lean drums, twanging guitars, and glimmering Rhodes with the unconstrained vocals. Following a similar instrumental blueprint is "The Moon's Loving Light" (which also shares similar origins), taking the listeners on a ride under the awe-inspiring, full-moon sky.

We find the vocalist upbeat in a sketchy but vivid place in "Love's A Terrible Thing To Waste": the free-flowing composition struts forward with improvised keys, sustaining the jovial and happy-go-lucky singer all set to have a jolly time downtown. There's an easygoing cadence that holds our attention, interspersed by the robust singing. Nearly the titular track, "Unbound" harnesses the power of being unshackled from fear and guilt, and becoming one with the universe. Towards the end, another impressive rendition arrives in the form of the "Join Along": a swaying, after-hours romantic ode to the bustling Big Apple, bundled with marching drums and pristine, lush melodies.
