Diving into the electronic music realm with his latest project is Zacc Lee, an indie-operating artist whose modus operandi has been not sticking to any genre— so it can be observed in the latest EP "stay the night." The versatile alias has a couple of tunes that perhaps slot themselves in the late-hours radio dance-pop category, equipped with a groovy production and notable vocals to render it grabby enough.
With a discography that hasn't been limited to any particular style, Zacc Lee has embarked on various popular styles and shown a fair grasp of those— take for instance his album "CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEVIL," a purely pop/emo-punk compilation with uptempo punk-rock and prominent performances, clearly inspired by the 2000s sound with a modernistic twist (such as the RnB number "MTV 2003"). Not long after, the moniker traded the overdriven sounds for gritty hip-hop elements in "TS" (with frequent collaborator, pillow) and "red code red."
As we get into the EP, we are acquainted with the titular track (this was also the debut single for "The Beats Never Stop" EP which teams up with a stylish and minimalist deep house track; an after-hours mood is achieved with the low-key percussions and a slick groove, letting the rap vocals plenty of room to maneuver. Then there's the final track "withdrawal symptoms suck," which rides on the UK Garage revival trend— the composition has the trademark FM bassline on a shuffling cadence with syncopated drums, and the heartbroken and emo-vocals offer more depth along with the bittersweet piano chords layering the beat; in entirety, a laidback yet moody number serving a melodic hook.
Attractive visualizers also accompany both of the tracks on Lee's YouTube channel, enhancing the experience with the catchy video-editing— "stay the night" has pulsating effects to emulate a club-like experience, while there’s a vibrant theme in "withdrawal symptoms suck".
